OVERCOMING THE SPIRIT OF DELAY

Overcoming the spirit of Delay

A sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu on Wed. 20/03/2019

There are forces that are responsible for delaying peoples’ blessings, keeping them from progressing, such forces are also responsible delaying some people from receiving Christ as their personal Saviour. With the help of God, those forces hindering your success will stop.

1. The Ethiopian Eunuch overcame the spirit of delay by receiving God’s salvation – Acts 8:36 As they went on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptised?” He had accepted to follow Christ but was not yet a born again because he was yet to be baptised. His baptism delayed a little, and he wondered what would stop him from being baptised since there was a river to do so. So being a serious minded person to embrace Christ as his Saviour, he was then baptised by Philip. Never you allow the power of darkness to stop you from receiving God’s salvation. The Ethiopian Eunuch overcame the spirit of delay by his anxious desire to follow Jesus Christ. As he was enlightened about the man(Christ) who was led to the slaughter, who was silent before his shearer, he was moved in spirit and needed no delay to become a Christian.

2. Jacob’s blessing delayed for 14 years (Gen.29:21)

The spirit that was responsible for the delay of Jacob’s blessings was the spirit of servitude. Such a spirit made him to serve over and over amounting to 14 years in the course of marrying Rachel. When he had worked for his uncle -Laban and expected Rachel to be given to him, he was disappointed. Another woman was given to him – Leah. Thus, when one is under the spell of delay, it makes one to work over and over again. Such a person when he gets to a level of receiving something, he would be told another story. “Sorry,” “another person has taken it,” “you can try again,” “come again,” and/ or “next time”. These are perhaps words used to comfort anyone who is under the influence of the spirit of delay- “there is no harm in trial”.

Note – those who have earned money to buy a car, but the person they gave money to buy it for them squandered the money, the cause of it is the spirit of delay operating to delay you from progressing, doing something in your life. The only one who can help you out is Jesus Christ- the hope of the nations.

3. Daniel’s answers to his prayers delayed for 21 days because of the Prince of the Kingdom of Persia ( Dan. 10:13). The angel who was sent to answer Daniel’s prayers was troubled by the spirit prince of Persian Kingdom. But Daniel was able to overcome this problem by the aid of God sending the archangel Michael to fight the battle for him. The same God will fight for you. The prayers you have prayed for years, if there is any power from any Kingdom of darkness withholding your prayers, destiny and blessings, we command them now to release them in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Prayers:

a. There will be no more delay in achieving my dreams and ambitions, this I believe in Jesus’s name, amen.

b. There will be no more delay in the pursuits of my business and academic careers, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

c. I shall delay no further to possess my possessions, in the name of Jesus.

d. Every spirit of delay in my life, causing a delay in my marriage, and conceiving of babies get out of me. I reject and denounce you for ever. You can no longer rule my destiny. Jesus Christ has come to rule and reign in my life and over me.

e. You spirit of misfortune, you are cast into the bottomless pit where you will no longer have upper hand in my life in the name of Jesus.

f. Any spirit that empties my pocket, dwindling my financial strength thereby delaying me to do exploits I command you to exists no more in my life, in Jesus’s name, amen.

JESUS IS KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR

Jesus is Knocking on Your Door
A sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu on Sun. 9th June, 2019.
Introduction:
There are different varieties of doors. We have interior doors, exterior doors, glass doors, and wooden doors. But in all, the door that Jesus Christ is Knocking on is your very HEART. Heart is a domain of forces, supposedly a dwelling home of God. Jesus is eager and meek to come into your heart and dwell in there to feed you with good thoughts nourishing your soul to keep it secure from danger and sin, and to give it life in abundance but Satan is aggressively fighting to steal it. Jesus Christ says:

‘The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly’, John 10:10 NHEB.

There are people whose souls have been stolen by Satan with the wealth of this world, and they tend to believe that they have gotten all they want in life. Such people are not only unbelievers but also some church members. Their belief in self-satisfactions results in their lukewarm attitudes in the worship of God. This is the problem with the church at Laodicea in the book of Revelation. The members were described by Jesus Christ like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, and Jesus promised to vomit them out just like someone being thirsty and needed cold water but unfortunately warm water is brought to him. He wouldn’t be happy, and may likely vomit it and pour it out.
The question is this, do you mix your life with righteousness and wickedness? If so you have a lukewarm attitude, and the very one who owes your soul is standing at the door of your heart knocking that you may open and welcome him for him to transform it, scanning your heart to remove the viruses which your heart has been contaminated.
Illustration:
There was a pastor who was on a mission of distributing alms to the poor. He had gathered more than enough money from his church members, and had learnt about a poor widow whose house rent had expired, and her landlord was about giving her a quit notice. Then the pastor came and was persistently knocking on the widow’s door to give her some money to solve her problems but the poor widow refused, thinking that it was her wicked landlord. The pastor wasn’t happy. So he left, and went to another poor widow woman. This woman was very sick. There was no one taking care of her. As the man of God came and knocked on the door of this sick poor widow, the woman mustered her remaining strength and asked: Who is it? The man of God responded: ‘I am a pastor, I have come to have a word with you”. This woman was very glad to receive the man of God. She crawled down the bed to open her door. The man came in and saw her condition. He did not only give her the money but he also share the Word of God with her and prayed for her. By God’s grace the woman was healed and she gave God all the glory.
Lessons:
1. There are people who hear the voice of the Lord through his ministers, and yet they harden their hearts.
2. There are also people that have the opportunity to receive Christ but because of their problems they feel like God does not exist.
3. Accepting the Word of God heals a broken heart.
Caution
1. Don’t harden your heart when the Word of God is preached to you. Instead, receive the Word with your heart, and the Word will have something good and effectual to do in your life. Thus your miracle can come from believing in the Lord who is preached to you.
Two important people who received Christ when He knocked on their doors.
1. The Samaritan woman at the well who had in the course of adultery married five men, and none of them was her real husband. When she encountered Jesus Christ, she opened her heart for Christ, and accepted him. She then became an instrument for evangelism, bringing more souls for Christ, ( John 4: 1-42).
2. Zacchaus: Among the people that crowded Jesus Christ when he was passing in the town of Jericho, it was Zachaeus, a tax collector who opened his heart for Christ. He was thought of the worst irreputable sinner so far, but he gave his life to Christ. Now listen to what Jesus said to Zacchaeus:

“Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully” Luke 19:5-6.

Lessons:
When Jesus calls, you don’t need to delay to receive him with joy. It is a privilege that Jesus is calling us today. Both Zacchaus and the Samaritan woman would have one reason or the other to give to Christ, a. Jews refused to do anything with us- we the Samaritans and so I wouldn’t believe in you, b. I am short and so I can’t see you to know who you are.
In all, there is no excuse to give when Christ knocks on the door of our heart. Let’s turn to him, and he will save us. Let us make our heart a dwelling place of the Lord, and it shall be well with us in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Sing this song with me:
Into my life, into my life;
Come into my life Lord Jesus;
Come in today, come to stay Lord Jesus.
May the Lord Jesus Christ always dwell in us, heal our broken hearts and set us free from the want of worldly pleasures. God bless you.

IS YOUR NAME REGISTERED IN HEAVEN?

IS YOUR NAME REGISTERED IN HEAVEN?

A sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu on Sun. 16th of June, 2019

But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven. Luke 10:20 NLT.

Introduction

I see that there are some unfathomable mysteries about human existence and the relationship of soul and his maker which some men of this world are unable to discover because they don’t want to know. We are too attached to everything about the external part of our lives which comprises of our needs i.e. education, business and social life, and we then show less concern to the inward, the real man. The inward is the essence of being human, and when we fail to recognise how important it is, it’s said to have been tarnished because great harm of negligence has been done to it.

In this era of civilization, registrations are no longer done with analogue (registering in a book) but with a computer and saved in a database. In the banking industry, if you didn’t register your bank account with your BVN (bank verification number) you will be restricted to withdraw money from your account. Thus, you have to register first. In education, students register for JAMB, WAEC, aptitude test and/or national/international exams before they would be allowed to write the exams; and if you didn’t register, that means, no exam for you. And these people that register for exams, remember, they’re mostly called candidates. Also, we see that people are very serious about registering their MTN numbers for two obvious facts 1. to enable them use the network, make calls, send and receive messages and to make browsing and 2. because of the fear of being bared from the network.

The question is, since we have in one way or the other registered our names in each of the above mentioned, is our names registered in heaven? Or do we care only about our external being and forget about our inward being. I asked because your soul is very precious and important to God.

Jesus Christ sent his seventy two of his followers in pairs to preach the gospel to the lost sheep of Israel. He cautioned them to be very careful for he’s sending them out as sheep among wolves, their blessings pronounced in the house of the person that welcome them would stand, eat what’s given to them, heal the sick and let them know that the kingdom of God is coming very soon. When they returned and gave Christ the account of their evangelical tour. Hear them:

Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name, verse 17.

Note: it is certainly the truth that many who use the name of Jesus Christ to perform wonders, their names will not be found in the database of God. Why? They know the law and break it. They exploit the week, commit all sorts of evil, rape, kidnapping, stealing, abortion, child trafficking, killing, sorcery, betrayal, slandering, mocking, false accusations, bribery and corruption. On that very day they will appear before Christ to know their heavenly status, whether their attitudinal lifestyles have automatically configured their names in heaven or not, the overseer of the heavenly registration will say: “I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws” – Matt. 7:23 NLT.

Process of Registration

Your position or rank in the church does not matter, and is never a criterion of registering your name in heaven. What matters a lot is your commitment- your personal relationship with God, including your love with your neighbours.

a. You must be born again: John 3:3

Jesus says: I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you can not see the kingdom of God.”

b. Receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour

c. Be an obedient servant of God, keeping his commandments.

d. Love what is good, and hate evil: Amos 5:15

“Hate evil and love what is good; turn your courts into true halls of justice. Perhaps even yet the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies will have mercy on the remnant of his people.” NLT

e. Have faith in God, Heb 11:6

Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him.

And once you establish faith in God, then wait in hope, your name will be automatically configured in heaven. This was what happened to the followers of Jesus Christ. They believed in him, and were obedient to serve him. He said to them:

But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven. Luke 10:20 NLT.

Brethren, I appeal to you to waste no more time to repent from your evil ways, so that your name will be automatically registered.
Let’s read and meditate on what is written in the book of Revelation. See below, and you will know that heavenly registration is a necessity, and should be your priority if you want to save your soul.

Rev.21:27 Nothing unclean, or anyone who does anything detestable, and no one who tells lies will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the lamb’s Book of Life will enter it.

Rev. 3:5 The person who conquers in this way will wear white clothes, and I will never erase his name from the Book of Life. I will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and his angels.

Rev.20:15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Prayer points
a. Lord Jesus, do not blot out my name in the book of life.

b. May I be acknowledged before your father in the day of judgement.

c. Create in me a new spirit to serve you. Renew my inner being, and wash me thoroughly that I may be clean.

d. And from today henceforth, let my name be registered in the book of favour, breakthroughs, and open door, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
